Sub Rosa is a 10-minute video created in collaboration between Stefania Galegati and Chiara Agnello, inside the Università dei saperi a laboratory by Stefania, at the Lo Russo Pagliarelli penitentiary institute in Palermo. The project was born during the GAP GRAFFITI ART IN PRISON program, where several women, including inmates and operators, exchanged various types of knowledge and artistic skills. Chiara, who worked as a director of the documentary for SkyArte, actively participated in the workshops and shot the video, while Stefania took care of the editing.

Both authors entered into a deep connection and creative synergy, despite their differences. The central theme of the video is time, seen as a crucial and oppressive element within prison. Chiara reflects on how time can be perceived as an enemy and how the prayers of the inmates mark their destiny. The figure of Santa Rosalia is evoked as a symbol of rebellion and freedom, representing the desire to escape an imposed destiny.
Stefania also shares her experience of writing texts on the ground, in the prison walkways. These texts are two letters, inspired by the conversations with the inmates during the workshops, and accompany the video thanks to the voice of Simona Malato.
The title Sub Rosa alludes to secrecy and confidentiality, recalling the idea that what is said in a protected context must remain confidential.
